Jocelyn Bell Burnell (1943 – )

Jocelyn Bell Burnell, astrophysicist.

A Northern Irish astrophysicist, she discovered the first pulsars in 1967. The 1974 Nobel Prize was awarded to her PhD supervisor, Antony Hewish.

She later became a symbol of humility and late recognition.
